The number of deaths from the coronavirus eruption has risen to 259, and a confirmed case in the areas of Tibet shows that this deadly virus has reached every region of central China. According to the Chinese health authorities, there were almost 11791 confirmed coronavirus cases nationwide as of January 31 2020 according to a report published in CNBC.
The virus has also spread to almost 15 countries around the globe and The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared a global health emergency over the new coronavirus (also known as china virus) that has killed at least 259 people in central China.
What is Coronavirus?
Coronaviruses are a family of infections and viruses that cause several illnesses ranging from the common cold to some serious diseases such as SARS and MERS (Middle East respiratory syndrome), etc. said by WHO. The viruses were initially spread between animals and people.
For example, SARS was thought to have been transmitted from animals named civet cats to humans while MERS spread from a specific type of camel to humans. Some of the coronaviruses are still circulating within animals that have not yet diseased humans.
As the virus seems like a solar corona under the electron microscope, it is named as coronavirus and the Latin word corona means crown or halo.
Other Coronaviruses Symptoms
Common Coronavirus in humans usually causes minor to modest illness to upper-respiratory-tract such as a common cold. Most of the human get infected with coronaviruses at some situations in their lives but medical conditions caused by these viruses usually last for a short span of time.
Coronavirus symptoms may include:
- Runny nose
- Sore throat
- And a general feeling of being unwell
Common human coronavirus sometimes also causes some lower-respiratory tract diseases, like pneumonia or bronchitis. This type of medical condition is more common in people with cardiopulmonary disease, people with debilitated immune systems, older adults and infants.
How Deadly Coronavirus is?
Most of the medical experts say that it may not be as deadly as different coronaviruses like SARS, which kills almost 800 people around the globe and 300 deaths were reported from china during the 2002-3. That was also originated in China and then spread to other countries.
MERS was more deadly during the 2002-3 incident but it did not spread as widely but killed almost one-third of the infected.
Where Have Coronavirus Cases Been Reported?
As it is mentioned above, most of the coronavirus has been reported in central China with a number of 11791 as 31 January.
The virus has also spread to many other Asian countries, as well as Australia, Europe, North America, and the Middle East.
According to the experts, lots of coronavirus cases outside China are among people who recently traveled to China.
A medical expert may require some laboratory tests on respiratory specimens and serum (part of your blood) to find out whether you are affected or not. Those tests are more likely to be used if an affected individual has an unadorned illness or is suspected of having MERS.
If you are experiencing any of the above-mentioned symptoms, you should visit your health care provider and tell about any travel or contact with any animal that can cause coronavirus. As most of the coronavirus cases are reported from China, reporting a travel history or contact with any animals can play a significant role when trying to diagnose coronavirus.
